MANCHESTER, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) _ A Manchester man was arraigned Tuesday in Manchester Superior Court for a January arson-murder in Manchester.
Bond for Steven Durdek Jr., 21, was raised from one to two million dollars and his case was transferred to Hartford Superior Court where his next date is set for March 4.
Durdek was arrested last Friday by Manchester Police on a number of charges for going to the Manchester home of Sarah Jacqueline Kelloway, 56, known by friends as Jackie, sexually assaulting her, beating her to death and then lighting her body on fire.
He was arraigned on charges including arson, sexual assault and murder. He has two other cases pending against him, including one in Manchester for a probation violation.
